“Most” is More Than Meets the Eye—Closed!

I am not often speechless (just ask my husband), but truly, I am not sure how to begin telling you about “Most: The Deluxe Edition.”
This short film is a simple allegory but on screen it becomes so much more. “Most” is Czech for “the bridge” – a literal and figurative bridge, in this case, that calls for sacrifice, untold pain and a path created for salvation.
Without spoiling the details, I will tell you that this Academy Award nominee was shot in Eastern Europe and it is glorious to see. The setting, the mood, the actors, the score – everything evokes an ethereal feeling that I have rarely seen matched on film. The vision created here is unique, as is the tale – a modern-day, very human take on John 3:16 – that unfolds.
This is not a film for young children. I would recommend it for middle school and older, under parental supervision. Watch it first and be prepared to answer some questions here, parents. This is a thought-provoking movie with a timeless message. For those of us who are visual learners, it is a vision of God’s love for us, while we were yet sinners, unaware of our connection to Him.
The deluxe edition DVD includes an introduction and commentary from Luis Palau, bonus features and more. A study guide is available online.
Watch this film and share it with others. I think it would be impossible to walk away unchanged.
