Excerpts from Amy Bayliss' Review:
"I had the pleasure of reviewing this unit study with my boys. I was happy to see everything laid out so nicely, and in order with a table of contents to guide through each day. The activities and links were plentiful and relevant. Heather insured that every subject was covered within the study and it is complete with vocabulary, book list, video recording links, and 26 days of lessons all planned out for you. "
Excerpts from Dana Hanley's Review:
"The Middle Ages is a unit study by Heather E. Langston which brings together the study of history, literature, geography, art and government as young learners explore what life was like in Europe during the middle ages. It comes with an extensive resources list which includes both a variety of Internet resources as well as books of varying reading levels, most of which were readily available at in our library system.
The resource list was both the most valuable part of the study, and perhaps my only criticism. The different sites provide resources for every learning style, presenting written descriptions, drawings, examples of artwork, time lines and even a model castle to construct from paper. The books also present different aspects of life in this time, as well as a variety of reading levels. The study has enough to engage any child from kindergarten to probably fifth or sixth grade, with the ability to adapt for older children.
With the amount of resources, however, it took some time to go through the sites and books to evaluate which would be most appropriate for my family. Once you get through the initial resource list, however, it is laid out very clearly, with only a few sites to look at each day of the study.
My children were most excited by the coloring sheets, which were better than most of the free coloring sheets I have printed off in the past, and the prospect of making a model castle. Although they have only done a couple of the activities, they are looking forward to learning more."

What a neat idea! I think the 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is one of the coolest unit studies on the site... We love Dahl! (I may have to put that one on 'the list' for next year!)
My favorite would be the Rocks and Minerals! I have always had a fascination with rocks, and have collected them since I was a child. I've even written devotions using rocks!
While I have passed on my interest in rock collecting to my boys, I think they would choose the Middle Ages unit study, because...well because they are BOYS, and they love everything about knights, and castles and jousting, and all that fun stuff! I've even decorated one of their bedrooms in a castle theme.
Rock and Minerals.
This is one study I have been putting of FOREVER! I would like to have a detailed guide on the topic.
The Middle Ages would be great for my daughter who is studying that time period next year.

Hi,
I would choose the Rocks and Minerals Unit. I have two rock kits in a corner of my bookcase which I don't know what to do with. Also, my daughter recently expressed an interest in volcanoes.

The Rocks and Minerals unit.
My dd has been asking to do a unit
on that topic. The school year is
almost over so we would do it during
the summer or next school year. :-)
Thank you for the chance to win.

I would also have to go with the Rocks and Minerals unit. There doesn't seem to be a lot of homeschool resources out there for this topic. Of course, if my son were chosing, he would pick the Christmas unit!
The Deep Sea unit looks fun. Science is not my strong suit, so I always enjoy looking at ideas to make it easier to teach.
My 9yo son would love the Middle Ages, but Rocks and Minerals would be a close second. We have a TON of rocks we have collected, but haven't yet identified or studied :)
I would have to say the sea unit as my kids just love learning about the sea creatures. They seem to be always finding something new about one creature . Then you hear about it for a week. So that is how I know they would enjoy the sea unit.
My daughter would love Rocks and Minerals actually. She has been telling me she'd like to learn more about rocks and mountains :).
My kids just love collecting rocks so I am sure that would be a favorite one!
The Middle ages one looks great too though - we just finished up learning about that time period recently...
I feel like I'm "ditto"-ing a lot of other people, but the Rocks and Minerals study would be fantastic! My boys all have a fascination with rock collecting, and it would be great for them to actually have some information to add to their exuberance. Maybe we could finally identify some of the treasures piling up on the AC unit, lol!
I love this. Unit Studies Rock!! lol Anyway I think my favorite would be the Japan study or maybe even the Christmas . Not sure they all look interesting.
Thanks for showing us the new resource.

Very neat. I think we would enjoy the unit on Japan.
I would love the Middle Ages unit study, as we'll be studying that time period next year. I am impressed with the broad spectrum of topics that it covers. Sounds great!
What an awesome idea. I would like the Middle Ages as we will be studying this time period next.
I love notebooking and so does my son.
