A Voyage of Thankfulness

November 10, 2009 by Brenda

I’m a believer in family reading time. We make time for it almost daily. There is a specialness that surrounds it. Reading stories as a family binds us together, as sharing an adventure together always should.

I’ve begun preparing to set sail on a voyage of thankfulness this November by choosing some quality books to read together. Here is our list of favorite Thanksgiving stories from the years past and ones we plan to read in the future:

Life is full of choices. During busy holiday times we often choose to get lost in the chaos. You may find yourself thinking that you don’t have the time to set aside for daily reading with the children because of preparations that you need to make.

What is important to you should be the focus of your time. Making time for sharing ideas and growing together during this opportunity of a what should be a time of thankfulness will be more rewarding in the long run then the errands upon errands that we seem to heap on ourselves around the holidays. The life lessons of hardship, steadfastness and thankfulness that can be gained through these Thanksgiving stories are a wonderful opportunity to seize. See you on the sea of thankfulness. Enjoy the voyage.

Brenda is a homeschooling mother of 5, who has a wonderful husband encouraging her to be the best woman that God has created her to be. Together they are very intentional about spending time together as a family. She considers her daily life with her children as her ministry and has found many avenues to encourage others to live a lifestyle of learning. She is the founder of an online homeschool community, Our Lifestyle of Learning and a curriculum review site authored by a group of well-known homeschool bloggers, Curriculum Choice. She blogs about their homeschool journey and family traditions at Tie That Binds Us.
