Beth
November 23, 2008 by Beth
Growing up, Beth could usually be found in the shady woods, preferably sitting in a tree by a creek bank with her journal opened, writing. Her genuinely authentic love for God began when she had a life changing altar experience at the age of 12 while attending Mark Rutland’s Youth Advance. Her formative years were spent living on a farm in a much beloved old house. Her father was her pastor and her mother was the church pianist. She credits her love for the home to her mom and dad, who made the sacrifice to live off of one income when she was growing up.
Today, Beth is an Institute for Excellence in Writing instructor and teaches weekly classes in Writing and Latin. When she is not studying for the next history topic, she is the marketing assistant for her husband’s medical IT firm. Her favorite hobby is digital photography, which she is currently attending classes for. She has stopped decorating curbside furniture (ask her that story!) and now decorates pictures with Photoshop.
She is married to her best friend, John. Together they are raising two godly boys, Sketcher, who is a budding artist, and Frog Catcher, who wants to be the next Austin Stevens.
Her family’s homeschool journey began in the spring of 2003 when they could not afford to send their oldest to a private school. Beth now continues to homeschool, but for very different reasons. Homeschooling has added a rich essence to her family, and given her children riches money cannot buy. She is seeing the rewards of her faithfulness pay off. Her boys have a heart for God and truly enjoy learning. She has discovered the balance of providing her children a love for learning while also keeping educational standards high.
Beth desires to bring hope, laughter and encouragement through her writing. She wants you to know that Yes!, you can do whatever it is God has laid on your heart. She hopes that her life will be an example to motivate and inspire other moms. She has a healthy recognition that she is not “perfect” but is always learning – and sharing – something new.
You can follow her family’s photographic journey and daily snippets at her blog, Pages of Our Life, where she enjoys posting about life as the pages turn.
