Candy Cane Bath Salts

Just today we made some fabulous little gifts! It’s AMAZING what you can do with a little creativity and an object lesson.
They have so many messages within them and they were soo fun to make!
All you need are:
Epsom salts (one large Epsom salt will make enough for 6 jars of salts)
peppermint oil
red food coloring
jars for layering the salts
embellishments
We combined the Epsom salts with 10 drops of peppermint oil (both available at the grocery). We then split the salts into two bowls and added red food coloring to one bowl and mixed well.
We layered them in the jars for a candy cane effect and included a Scripture verse,
“Salt is good….Have salt in yourself and have peace with one another.”
Mark 9:50
We also added a tag that read:
Candy Cane Bath Salts
2-3 Tablespoons for a refreshing bath
We added a candy cane as a reminder that Jesus is our shepherd and without Him, Christmas is lost.
I did these in a Bible Study Class with homeschooled girls. The girls ranged in age from 5 – 15 and they ALL enjoyed it! What a great, inexpensive Christmas gift with a real message!
