It’s the middle of the day and you and your child are at the grocery store. A woman walks up and asks what school your child attends. You respond that your child is homeschooled. *GASP*… She looks at you and asks–Can you do that? Are you a teacher? Or the most crazy question I have ever received, “How do you homeschool 24 hours a day?” Um. Pardon? “4 kids requiring eight hours each…how do you manage it?” To which I responded, “Who needs sleep?” What are some of the craziest questions you have gotten about homeschooling and the goofiest responses you have given?

I love this meme … people have so many misconceptions about home schooling and the questions and responses are always funny. I’m glad we can laugh about them and know that the questions aren’t meant to hurt us but simply out of curiosity. =)

My 8-year-old son overheard me laughing about the question, “Do you homeschool 24 hours a day?” He promptly replied, “Of course not! Who would homeschool 24 hours a day?!” It’s probably a good thing we’ve never been asked this at a store.

When you spend most of your time around other homeschool families, you sometimes forget that there are people out there who don’t have a clue what homeschooling is. And I agree with Kathy that a sense of humor is essential!
