Jamie

A Georgia born-and-bred 30-something girl with an enthusiasm for life, love, friends, and family, Jamie strives to see herself and others the way Christ sees them: flawed, but extraordinarily loved. Though she became a Christian at a young age, it was only after being “broken” during a really painful time in her life that she learned what following Christ really means. She knows that absolutely anything good she accomplishes is only because of Christ in her.
Jamie is a wife and mom in a blended family. Her husband Ken is the love of her life, and they love working together in their photography business. They both want to keep learning something new every day of their lives. In addition to “his” and “hers” children (who they both consider simply “ours”), they are in the process of adopting a child from the foster care system, and look forward to meeting whoever God has chosen to add to their family. They also have one furry four-legged adopted family member: a silly greyhound rescue mutt named Lacy.

Even before her daughter was born, Jamie felt called to homeschool. There were many challenges in the following years that almost made that impossible, but those things only served to make her really appreciate the opportunity to homeschool. On those difficult and trying days that all homeschoolers sometimes face, she reminds herself that homeschooling truly is a gift, rather than a burden. She doesn’t have all the answers, but she is so passionate about the blessings of homeschooling, that she wants to encourage and help other homeschoolers in any way she can. Jamie loves the mostly-Charlotte Mason style of homeschooling she has chosen, but loves learning from other styles, too, because she recognizes that every family and every child is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all for parenting or education!
Jamie loves to surround herself with pretty things, from dainty teacups to the beautiful flowers in her cottage-style garden. She is an avid reader, and is somewhat addicted to blogging. Her days are fueled by the love of her family, many mugs of steaming hot tea, and a daily dose of dark chocolate. She invites you to visit her personal blog for eclectic bits of encouragement and fun at Rose Cottage.
