From the Amies…
Summertime always brings back fond memories of my childhood. I remember visiting many old plantation homes and going to water parks with family and friends. I also remember family cookouts, slip and slides made from visqueen and dishwashing liquid, sitting on the front porch swing with grandma, and sleeping in the car while in route to our summer vacation.
What loving and joyous memories do you plan to create for your child this summer?
I mentioned before that I was fond of these memories and often looked back on them. I don’t’ say that lightly. I remember them because there was a heart connection made at those times with different members of my family. Think back on your childhood. What do you remember the most?
I encourage you to spend a bit more time with your little ones (yes, even teens are little ones) and get to know something new about them. Engage them in conversation. Step into their world for just a brief moment whether it be on the couch watching Veggie Tales or in the backyard slippin’ and slidin’ or running through the sprinkler. Look them in the eye and show them your love. Encourage them with your words. They will truly remember it for years to come!
Heart of the Matter Online has a new free e-book that will give you some ideas for summer fun. Those who are already on our weekly newsletter list should have already received it. Those who aren’t can get it by signing up for our newsletter. You can do that by visiting our site and entering your name and e-mail address in the proper place on our sidebar, “Newsletter” is the header.
We pray that this e-book will give you and your kids some intense joy this summer.
