Knowledge Without Wisdom

What is the goal of homeschooling? The love of learning? Kids who achieve great academics and go on to big colleges? Instilling Biblical principles along the way?
Along the way?
NO! It must be more than that. Our end result should always be in anything, and in homeschooling, to keep our eye on the prize-Jesus.
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
What good is all the knowledge in the world, without wisdom? Without the love of the Lord in our children’s hearts? While I want them to succeed in all they do, what is the true measure of success?
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…” Colossians 3:23
It helps to remind ourselves of these things, and remind ourselves often. Because as homeschooling becomes more mainstream, it can become worldly, like anything else. Just another thing we have to do…and we look to see how others are doing it…and we can get caught up in how we do it..and in how it looks and so on.
We get wrapped up in the perfect books, the perfect curriculum, and making our homeschool room look pretty. We may have a pretty room to learn in, but it doesn’t matter much if our hearts are ugly. Each day I must constantly remind myself that homeschooling is a means to an end and not let it become the end in itself. To not let the distractions cloud my view.
Homeschooling allows me to teach my children, to raise them with a biblical worldview, and to fix our eyes on Jesus, each moment of our day. To weave the wisdom of the Lord into all of our lessons…to see God in everything whether it be in science, or to see Him in math…or to see Him even in the chores of the day…and also in the struggles.
To teach them to live for the Lord, and not for ourselves.
That is the ultimate success of our homeschool. Be careful not to measure your success against the world’s view, but of His.
