What a great post on the differences in how children learn. I have 5 sons, have homeschooled all but the youngest at particular points in their lives. One son in particular needs to have patterns in math and langauge pointed out to him. He learns just like his mama. He has Central Auditory Processing Disorder. It is a hearing processing, like dyslexia of the ears. Once we started breaking down patterns in language and math, taking it a part, then he just took off. This also applies in a foreign language and, surprisingly, behavior.

What a great way to break down and let people see the differences. Children are different. They excell in different areas. They aren't and shouldn't be expected to be equal in all areas.

This was an excellent article. Thank you for it. I believe I have one right-brainer in the family thus far. He's my 4-year old and I am still learning all the tricks to make learning exciting for him.

I tried "Learn to Read in 100 Easy Lessons" on him but he wasn't having it. Now I'm using a workbook method mixed with some phonic games (that are bright and colorful) that he really loves.

I look forward to checking out some of those sites. We are Tapestry of Grace users (my daughter is a good mix of both right and left brainer) so I know that will be good for my son as well. :)
