The winner is Shannon of Everyday Moments.
A few weeks ago I noticed that one of my favorite Christian authors had a Facebook page! I quickly requested her as a friend and waited–about 3 minutes before she added me! She then posted on my Facebook page a very kind, very personal response. I took a slow breath, then immediately called my entire family so they would see that LIZ CURTIS HIGGS wrote on my Facebook wall!!! I quickly noticed from her biography that she would be in Nebraska within the next two weeks. I would get to meet Liz Curtis Higgs!!!
Let me tell you, if you have never attended a conference hosted by Liz you absolutely must, MUST check out her schedule and plan to attend. Her website can be found here: http://lizcurtishiggs.com
Okay, so the awesome part–besides meeting her and having a picture to prove it– I have 3 autographed children’s books and 2 autographed women’s books to give away.

- Bad Girls of the Bible and What We Can Learn from Them, book #1 in her acclaimed series that has sold over a million copies. Liz Curtis Higgs breathes new life into ancient tales about the most infamous—and intriguing—women in scriptural history, from Jezebel to Mary Magdalene.
- Embrace Grace, winner of a 2007 Retailers Choice Award, presents her message of hope in an engaging and personal way, speaking directly to the hearts of her readers.

- The Parable of the Lily, through the unique gift of a bulb, young Maggie discovers the power of grace and forgiveness and the true meaning of Easter.
- The Pumpkin Patch Parable, illustrates how God’s transforming love can fill each of our hearts with joy and light.
- The Pine Tree Parable, the heartwarming tale of a farmer and his family who learn the true meaning of Christmas.
To enter, we’d love to know if you’ve ever met a celebrity in real life– be it an author, actor or even superhero! If not, let us know who you’d like to meet.
Leave your comment before Monday, March 16th at 10pm EST.

I met Steven Curtis Chapman! We were going to his concert and ate dinner at Pappasitos beforehand. He was there with some of his band and his boys (they were very shy, one hid behind him in our picture). We left just before them and waited outside to say hello. What a treat!

Never met anyone famous -but I would love to meet Rick Warren.

Oh how fun!!!! I’d love a chance at this!
Let’s see…I’ve met Jake the Snake Roberts at a church I was attending. He came to give his testimony and he signed my Bible. Not that I was into wrestling or anything, but I thought it was rather neat. Word has it that He talked to much about Jesus/God in the ring and they threw him out of the WWF (or what is now the WWE).
I also got face to face with the lead singer from The Supertones. THAT was pretty cool!!!

You are so lucky. I am a bit jealous, because I adore Liz Curtis Higgs. We’re friends on Facebook, too. I have e-mailed her before, and she responded like a friend. The times that she’s speaking anywhere near where I live, there is always something else going on that I can’t get there.
My celebrity/author experience is that I got to meet Marilynn Rockett, author of Homeschooling at the Speed of Life, at a Homeschooling Mom’s Retreat last month. I bought her book and had her autograph it. She was very sweet, funny, and down to earth. I didn’t think to bring my camera, though!
I would love to win a book!

I have met Dolly Partons sister when I was a teenager. She was holding a concert for charity in our area.

I’ve talked to Ty Pennington from Extreme Home Makeover, went to high school with Kelly Buchberger and Theoron Fleury (both professional hockey players), and have stood close enough to Keanu Reeves to get his autograph. I can’t think of any others, but there may have been more. We have each of the children’s books and enjoy them, but I have never read either of the adult selections. Thanks for the giveaway.

I don’t think I’ve ever met a celebrity IRL. And if I did, I just don’t remember! My husband David, however, has met several in his flights around the country. I have no idea who I’d want to meet if I could– mostly because all the famous people that come to mind I am so disillusioned with!

I’ve been lucky to meet a couple of people of some renown. The most famous person I’ve met is Alex Haley (author, “Roots”). He was a trustee at the college I attended and as an English major, I got to meet him. I’ve also met Perry Stone (TV evangelist), Alex Beaton (Scottish singer), John Waller (current contemporary Christian singer). I’ve also met Terry Meuwsen (700 club), Mary Hunt (author, Debt Proof Living), Stormy Omartian (Christian author), and Margaret Becker (Christian singer). I think that’s it.

I have had the opportunity to meed a few “celebrities” in my lifetime. One of them being Pat Boone when I was in high school ( countless years ago). I remember him being a down-to-earth kind of guy, very easy to talk to.
I think the biggest celebrities in my life, however, are the people I’ve met that haven’t ever carried the title “celebrity”. These are the everyday people that ended up making some kind of HUGE difference in my life, the “angels” that God had sent at just the right time. These, to me, are the real celebrities…and I remember those more than any “celebrity” I’ve ever met!

I have met three 1984 Olympic gymnasts (Peter Vidmar is the only name I remember).
But, the best one was Charo. In 1990, I was on Oahu visiting my granny with my parents and siblings. We went to the Bishop Museum and we were in the planeterium waiting for the show to start. A family of four came in just before the show started. Charo came to sit in the row I was at the end of. My oldest, who was three at the time was sitting on my lap. As Charo went by, she pinched my daughter’s cheeks and said, “You have a beautiful little girl.” LOL

I met Steve Lundquist when I was a high school senior. He won an Olympic gold medal in swimming at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. He was presenting awards at a local scholarship compeition sponsored by a newspaper and I not only got one of the awards, but got my photo taken with him. I would like to meet popular children’s authors- people like Jan Brett and learn how they write a book, what inspires them, etc.

I have met David Meece (Christian singer of the 80s) when he did a concert at our church – he was so nice and funny. His wife just recently spoke at our church’s ladies retreat too. Also, I met Mel Gibson, when he was filming the movie Signs in the town where I worked. I had to wait on the street for about an hour. But my favorite was meeting Elisabeth Eliot at a conference – she is an amazing lady, so gracious and yet powerful.

I would love to win this book by Liz Curtis Higgs. Bad Girls of the Bible is one of my favorite books. I have met, been photographed with and received an autographed boxing glove from Joe Frasier. I’ve also met and was inspired by Sugar Ray Leonard’s journey. I rode on an airplane from Hawaii to Dallas with Willie Nelson. When we deplaned, he turned and said hello.

My Ds would Oh So Love to meet and talk to Tim Tebow.
He is my son’s hero. Not only because he was Homeschooled, is a great athlete (my son would love to play but because of medical conditions he can’t) But, esp. because Tim Tebow is a great witness for Christ Jesus. Tim gives up his spring break to witness to others and Urban Meyer (Fl. Gator’s coach) has been touched by Tim’s faithfulness to God.
