New To Homeschooling?

What? You aren’t a certified teacher? *giggles* Most of us aren’t certified teachers either and we are still successfully educating our children. The curriculum, online support groups and sites, and local homeschool organizations make it relatively easy to learn how to home educate your child(ren). Your commitment to learn and to teach your child to learn is what makes homeschooling successful. Besides, statistics show that the teaching parent is no more successful with or without a degree. Rest assured, you are highly qualified for the job. If you are concerned with not knowing what your child needs to know and when then I highly recommend Robin Sampson’s What Your Child Needs To Know When.
Another step that you will need to take is finding out your state’s laws about homeschooling. Don’t tense up! Homeschooling is legal in all states but each has its own set of guidelines that are summed up best at this site that is part of the HomeSchool Legal Defense Association also known as HSLDA: You Can Homeschool.
Once you have become familiar with your state’s homeschool policies and taken the first step toward becoming an official homeschool family then you will want to consider curriculum. We have several reviews listed on our site as well as a list of curriculum favorites. If you have questions about any of the curriculums listed please don’t hesitate to ask our contributors questions regarding that curriculum.
If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask them in the comments section of this post. We will answer all questions either here on this post or in our monthly magazine.
