Hello! My name is Nikowa (nick-Ō-wuh). I get a lot of questions about my name, which is Native American. My paternal great-grandmother was full-blooded Cherokee. I was told that my name means: “Power of the Moon.”
I married to my best friend Kevin. We got married in 2006 and the boys are from a previous marriage. In May 2009, Kevin adopted the boys “officially”. We are foster-to-adopt parents with our local Department of Family and Children Services and we volunteer for our local Cub Scout Pack.
We have two boys, known on my blog as “Bruce”(10) and “Nemo”(6). I’m so blessed that the Lord has provided a way for me to be a SAHM and homeschool. Our eclectic homeschool is called Knowledge House Academy. I am only homeschooling my oldest, “Bruce” because of ADHD and various LD’s. We’re co-schooling “Nemo” and he’s really doing well! Both of our boys are diabetic (technically IGT-impaired glucose tolerance). We participate in many extra curricular activities including personal charity work and the Cub Scouts.
When I’m not cooking, cleaning and/or teaching, I enjoy a multitude of different things! My number one thing would be photography! I am always taking pictures. I also enjoy gardening, knitting, reading, music, and college football-Go Dawgs! I enjoy writing and I’d be lost without my iPhone-it’s like my personal assistant. I am passionate about cervical cancer awareness, as I am a 2x cervical cancer survivor. Praise God! I am also passionate about adoption, as we’ve already been through one adoption (step-parent) and we’re hoping to adopt more children soon.
