Plan for a MISSION-MINDED 2010

January 26, 2010 by Ann

Have you considered setting aside a few days in early January to seek the Lord’s will for this NEW YEAR? Do you desire for your family and personal life to become more effective for God’s Kingdom, and for ETERNITY?

At the end of each year, our family has always invested a few days to reflect upon the past 12 months, and to seek the Lord’s direction for the coming new year. Financially, as my husband and I close-up our end-of-the-year books, we consider our spending and giving, as we pray for God’s future wisdom and His direction for family needs and mission giving. In our family scheduling, as we consider the past year’s calendar, we take time to review the highs and lows, rejoice in what God has done, learn from past mistakes and challenges . . . then pray and dream about His ideas for our future.

Plan to become a MISSION-MINDED FAMILY in 2010

This year, I put together a FREE Mission-Minded New Year’s Guide to help woman and homeschooling families (like YOU!!!) to evaluate your past year and to seek God’s will for your future in 2010. This FREE guide is especially designed for Christian mothers who desire to become more MISSION-MINDED and eternally effective in this next year.

Take 7 – For Fulfillment, Completion, and Rest

This evaluation and prayer guide focuses on the number 7 (God’s number for fulfillment, completion, and rest), with the idea of investing 7 days at the beginning of this new year to look at the your days (each 24/7), your next 7 weeks, your next 7 months, your next 7 years, and even how your current decisions will look 70 years from now (with the belief that we should live EVERY DAY for God’s purposes, and in light of ETERNITY.)

Here’s a short video that explains more:

Also, for you and your family, here is my favorite One-Year Bible Reading Check-off Plan from www.Bible-reading.com.

Have a MISSION-MINDED New Year! May God bless you and your family, for His purposes, in 2010!

    Hey everybody!

Since the time I submitted this article to Heart of the Matter, I put together a 2nd version of this 2010 MISSION-MINDED GUIDE . . . for YOUTH (also FREE!!!).

Homeschooling moms, you can use the link above for YOU, but this 2nd version is great for those of you with teenagers/high school youth to help your big kids to also seek God’s will and purpose for their future, beginning with the next 24/7, along with the next 7 days/weeks/months/years . . . and even to think about what they want their lives to be like 70 years from now. I want to encourage you and your family to live EVERYDAY in light of ETERNITY!

    Blessings to you!

Thanks for your thoughts & the great resource! I can’t wait to download it & check it out. This year, our church is sponsoring 5 or 6 (??) missions trip and our family has decided to go to New Mexico with other families from our church to run a VBS for a church there. We’re very excited! In addition, my brother and his family are career missionaries overseas and we help to support several other families. It’s always good to get a reminder of the reason we support missions, though, instead of just doing it because we’ve always done it.

Bethany, Thank you SO much for your comment, and for taking a look at this resource. As you know, having a MISSION-mindset and heart for the GREAT COMMISSION is more than an occasional afterthought. It should be at the bulls-eye center of our life purpose. The guide for YOUTH can also help you, as parents, to direct your older children to look at their future life goals and plans from an eternal perspective. They won’t all be called and directed by God to fulltime Christian service or international missionary work; but at followers of Jesus, we’re all called to be a part of expanding God’s kingdom!

Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China, once said, “The Great Commission is not an option to consider, it is a command to obey.” I say, “Missions is not just for missionaries; God’s CALL is for ALL.”

Blessings to you, Bethany, and to your family and church – in your mission outreaches to New Mexico, and in your family life.

Chocolate-on-my-Cranium (Just took a look at your blog and your sweet and “semi-sweet” family, appreciate your heart for God’s covenant of marriage). Thank you for your encouraging comment, and I’m happy to know that you found this guide and hope it will be a blessing. You’re very welcome!

& to all at Our Life as a Military Family: Our family has really enjoyed this particular Bible reading plan. It’s very flexible, but helps keep track of the balance of the different areas (epistles, Gospels, Law, Poetry, Prophets, History, etc.) In our family we’re all using it, in different ways. And btw, our oldest son is a USMC Lieutenant, in Ground Intelligence, tentatively scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan later this year. BLESSINGS to all of you in your service to our nation.

So excited to print this out and use it for 2010! Thank you for offering it for free; that is a blessing to many.

Both of your books, Mission-Minded Family and Mission-Minded Child are on our favorite mission resources list! Honestly, the Mission-Minded Family got us off to a great start on our way to following God to Honduras permanently.

    With much appreciation in Christ,
    Laura

    Laura,

WOW!!! May the Lord’s abundant BLESSINGS and GRACE be upon your family, as you are living and serving Him as missionaries in Honduras. What a beautiful report. I’m so humbled that the MISSION-MINDED books have been an encouragement to you as you have embarked on your own family’s journey of obedience to the CALL. If you are ever discouraged or needing specific prayer (for either BIG things, or little stuff), please stop by our website, or my facebook page. I have a special love for missionary families, and love to pray specifically as needs arise.

With much love and with a (((BIG HUG))) from one MISSION-MINDED momma to another!!!

    Lori,

I’m so glad that you found this guide, and I pray that it will be a blessing and help to you. It’s so awesome that God can take our heart, and both our strengths and our weaknesses, and put them together with needs in this world, in a way that can GLORY HIM.

May you and your family have a blessed and MISSION-MINDED 2010!!! (Note: below is a link to a new article about how to incorporate a heart for world missions in our family and home . . . in FEBRUARY.)

    In His Love,
