Review: BookSwim

Getting Started:
Registering an account was easy. I was done in just a few clicks of the keyboard. I signed up for the Avid Reader plan which allows me to have seven books in circulation. With four kids at home ages 5years-9 months I’m not sure why I thought I needed 7 books at once—but it sounded good and hey postage is free!

You can’t swim until you fill your pool...
Here is where it could have gotten tricky. I don’t really have a favorite author. My reading tastes are diverse but there is a good search and category index to help you view books ( including thumbnail of cover) to create your list. I was able to come up with 18 books to fill my pool.
Unfortunately, according to Bookswim most of my books were unavailable and would need to be purchased by them first. I then ranked my books 1-18 in the order I would prefer to receive them, knowing that they will ship the first books on the list that they have available.

Worth the Wait?
I signed up on January 5th and my first shipment shipped on January 28th and was received on January 31st. I admit to being a little anxious and disappointed with the wait time for receiving my first shipment, however I received 7 books and was pretty satisfied with the selection. Now to find the time to read them. It is nice to know that I won’t have to worry about late fees and I can return (in the postage paid envelope) as I’m done with them. If I come across a book I cannot part with, I also have the option of buying it—at a discount!

Swimming with Books:
I can now see why Bookswim is quickly becoming an online favorite. Their website is attractive and easy to navigate. Adding books to your pool, checking on book status, returning books, and even canceling the service (at any time, no terms) is simple and efficient. If you are an avid reader who is quickly running out bookshelf space or you want to avoid late fines and library wait lists this service is for you and will save you money— What more could an avid reader want?
