The Annoying Vuvuzelas: A CurrClick LIVE Review

For the first time ever, we have attended online Science classes live on CurrClick.com.    I must say, we were all really impressed.    For our first venture into the world of online classes, we picked a one-time Science Jim class.   When we signed up, we received an e-booklet download in order to prepare for the class.   For our particular class we conducted a few quick experiments ahead of time and reviewed some of the science terminology.   After signing up for the class, we also received a web address link to the classroom online.   On the day of the class, we arrived in the virtual classroom where we were greeted by Science Jim via chat.    We watched a live feed of Science Jim as he taught, as well as watched his notes being posted on a virtual whiteboard in the center of our screen.   Just based on the use of technology alone, these live CurrClick.com classes are worth visiting!

The class we attended online was a Science Jim class called “Those Annoying Vuvuzelas.”   That’s a very catchy name for a class in the physics of sound.   How fun is that?   Why talk in boring scientific terms that kids don’t remember when you can teach the same facts in a way they will remember?   Have you ever heard a vuvuzela in person?   It’s definitely memorable.   And now, thanks to Science Jim, my kids know how a vuvuzela works!

The vuvuzela class was Part 4 of a 4-part series that Science Jim was conducting in September and October.   I personally don’t know if he will repeat this particular live class again.   So what’s the good news?   The good news is that Science Jim teaches many other classes on other science topics.  Upcoming for October, Science Jim will be teaching a short series called “Spooktacular” with topics such as EWWW Gross, the Dreaded Dry Ice of Dooooom and Ghostly Science.   As the e-review coordinator for Heart of the Matter Online, we attended the first science class complimentary in exchange for an honest review.   I do hope you can find one to visit soon online.   They are a fun break to your homeschool day and Science Jim is definitely an entertaining character, to say the least.

UPDATE: Science Jim’s Spooktacular Science #1 EWWW Gross is now SOLD OUT

Hurry and sign up for Science Jim’s Spooktacular #2, Dreaded Dry Ice of Dooooom, and Science Jim’s Spooktacular #3, Ghostly Science before these classes fill up!!
