The Doubleganger Chronicles: The Great Mogul Diamond

I had been reluctant to let my twin 8-year old sons read graphic novels until Tyndale Publishers sent me G.P. Taylor’s latest book in in his Dopple Ganger Chronicles: The great Mogul Diamond.  If you don’t already know, Taylor is being dubbed as “the new C.S. Lewis” in the United Kingdom and has been referred to as “hotter than Potter.”  His series, which is geared toward kids ages 8-12, feature a creative and eye-catching combination of art and traditional text that grabs the attention of visually oriented kids and appeals to reluctant readers, especially boys.  But what Taylor’s series is most known  for is his gift for conveying the gospel message through creative storytelling.
“I strive to give young people positive, Christ-filled messages in my books” says Taylor who believes that celebrity is changing the young people of America as they are being seduced by the desire to be ‘famous’ and encouraged to look for cheap fixes in their lives.  In this 3rd installment of the series, identical twins, Sadie and Saskia Dopple find themselves smack dab in the middle of a dangerous mystery and a series of crimes.  The twins need to figure out who is behind the evil plots before their adopter, Muzz Elliott is framed for the crime. What do you do when you aren’t sure what’s right?  Sadie, Saskia and their friend Erik face this question head-on.  This book introduces the Christ figure (The Man of Good-Bye Friday) for the first time in the series.
